So today, I would like to talk about the Gift Voucher Trap. Yes, you heard me right. The reason I call it a gift voucher trap because over the perios you know
Most of the companies when we ask them Ohh why you doing gift vouchers and the simple answer is, you know what Nidhi , “ Everybody loves it “ It’s easy for them, it’s easy for us “
It”s working perfectly fine. And then my question is .Do you think anybody, anybody would ever tell you I don’t want to gift voucher. NO ! That is what I call it a gift voucher trap.
So if you go around and you do a survey and you ask people , Hey listen would you want an award or recognition or do you want a gift voucher. Believe me , of course there are a lot of people who think otherwise , but most of the people will tell you , Oh Yes ! just give us a gift voucher. It works the best, we”ll take whatever we want out of it. Ohh by the way, in my other videos, I would be covering up Breakage in Gift Vouchers. Yes, Breakage in Gift Vouchers, it’s a small technical term, but a very important term for you to know . If you are buying gift vouchers in a regular basis because that really means and how much value are you really getting out of your gift voucher distribution. So yes the gift voucher trap all I am saying is beware of it.
Just because everybody tells you that yes it is working, it may not working in the real sense, because yes they are getting what they want, but Are you recognising the effort? Are you generating more of what you want? because that’s what Recognition is. It’s encouraging a particular behaviour. Appreciating who’s doing that amazingly and then encouraging the rest of the people to do what is happening . That’s how cultures are changed. Right ..So think about it again. Don’t fall into the Gift Vouchers TRAP. And like I always say I don’t sell gift vouchers, I don’t hate gift vouchers. But its just that Gift Vouchers cant solve every problem.
