Until recently the only way to get color printing directly on a wooden plaque was through screen printing but we wanted to print a full color picture of an aircraft or logo then there were no options. The closest one could get was to print on paper or vynal and stick it on the plaques.
But now with UV digital printers we can do digital printing on wood with ease. Get any picture directly printed from the printer on the wooden plaque.
Yes you guessed it right. Wooden plaques goes inside the printer and get printed directly. UV digital printers are not like regular color printers. They are special UV Digital printers which can print on many different surfaces including acrylic and different types of metals. Once the printing is done the ink is cured with UV light in matter of second that is why they are called UV digital printers.
To be honest UV digital printers have been in the market probably for over a decade but their earlier versions did not give a very stable print as many prints the prints could easily be peeled off the wooden plaques or acrylic sheets.
However now with the right use of inks and the right printer and settings you can be sure that you get digital prints on wood which durable. They pass the tape test and the printing will never wear off in regular use. I would say there are still some improvement areas possible with UV digital Printers but that is a never ending process.
