In simple words. You cannot get color inside a crystal in 3D engraving.
In one of my earlier blogs I talked in detail about how images are actually engraved inside crystal. You can read this blog to build a complete understanding of this process. You will understand technically why we cannot get color when we make 3D engraved crystals.
Looking for real quick explanation than here it goes.
3D Images are engraved inside crystal by a laser beam.
The laser beam penetrates through the surface of the crystal and starts rupturing the crystal in forms of tinny dots to create the image we have fed in the system. So except for laser beam nothing really enters inside the crystal.
Since no material enters a solid block of crystal we cannot put color inside 3D engraved crystals.
Update Dec 2015
For one of our projects we have been able to indirectly add a tinge of color to our 3D engraving.
Well I guess their is always a solution available for everything. Unfortunately I don’t have an image to show here. But yes some what… some what we can give a color filling effect in 3D crystals too.
At Pinnacle we often use this technique to make awards, mementos and financial tombstones for our customers. You may see a small selection here while we have made hundreds of designs for most of our products are custom design and therefore we have not uploaded them here.
